Before the Peasant Month ends, together with Gabriela Aotearoa and SAKA, we are launching a campaign to stand in solidarity with and support peasant farmers in the Philippines. Get involved through our T-shirt fundraiser and peasant situationer focusing on the challenges faced by peasant women.
Why is this important?
In the Philippines, peasants, who make up the majority, till the land they don't own. They suffer the repercussions of neoliberal agricultural policies, face food insecurity, resource exploitation, and human rights violations.
Rural women, hit hardest by economic crises, deal with unpaid care work and the gender wage gap – they earn just 78% of what men do, widening to 43% in rural areas.
By purchasing the “Babae, Babawi" (Women Fight Back) T-Shirt, you are directly supporting genuine agrarian reform and food sovereignty in the Philippines. Let's raise awareness about global food sovereignty movements and strengthen international solidarity!
Date: October 30, 2023
